Overview

Connection Note Draft is a Chrome extension that helps a user draft one short connection note for the LinkedIn profile page they are currently viewing.

The extension is user-triggered. It does not auto-send messages, auto-connect with people, or run bulk scraping jobs.

What Data The Extension Accesses

When the user opens a LinkedIn profile page and clicks Generate, the extension reads selected visible text from that page. Depending on what is visible on the page, this can include:

• name
• headline
• visible hero/profile text
• visible About text
• visible current Experience text
• visible Education text

The extension reads only the current LinkedIn profile page the user has opened in their browser. It does not crawl other pages in the background.

What The User Provides

The user provides:

• their own OpenAI API key
• an optional default intro line that the generated note should start with

What Is Stored Locally

The extension stores the following settings in the user’s Chrome profile using chrome.storage.sync:

• OpenAI API key
• default intro

These settings are stored locally in the browser profile. If the user has Chrome Sync enabled, Chrome may synchronize these settings across that user’s signed-in Chrome browsers.

How Data Is Used

When the user clicks Generate, the extension:

1. reads selected visible text from the currently open LinkedIn profile page
2. combines that text with the user’s saved default intro
3. sends that information to OpenAI using the user’s own API key
4. receives one generated connection-note draft
5. shows that draft inside the extension panel so the user can copy it

The user manually copies the generated note. It is not auto-sent.

What Data Is Shared And With Whom

The extension shares data only in the following way:

• selected visible text from the current LinkedIn profile page and the saved default intro are sent to OpenAI to generate the note
• the request is sent using the user’s own OpenAI API key

The extension does not send this data to the developer through a separate backend or external database.

The extension does not sell data, does not share data with advertisers, and does not maintain a remote database of profiles, prompts, notes, or API keys.

What The Extension Does Not Do

Connection Note Draft does not:

• auto-send LinkedIn messages or connection requests
• auto-fill or submit LinkedIn forms on the user’s behalf
• scrape profiles in bulk
• crawl other pages in the background
• store profile data in an external database

User Control

The user controls when the extension runs by:

• opening a LinkedIn profile page themselves
• clicking the extension’s Generate button
• choosing whether to copy and use the generated note

The user can remove or change their stored API key and default intro at any time from the extension’s settings page.
